Asian kids transformed into Street Fighters.
When I was a young Asian scrap like these two, before receiving formal training in the Shotokan fighting style, I used to pull special moves like this all the time.
That’s how I got in trouble in third grade once, when everyone was running to line up in single file after recess, and I dashed toward the group and jumped in with a flying kick, like I was Bruce fucking Lee in Enter the Dragon.
I accidentally kicked a kid, but it was nothing serious. It’s not like he got knocked out, body all hanging in the air as he dropped in slow motion, elephants trumpeting in the background as an announcer was like, “You Win.”
It’s not like dude lost a quarter or nothing over it. I didn’t follow it up by smashing some guy’s car with mad dragon punches, breaking his sedan down to a molecular level. It wasn’t anything serious, nahmean?
Anyway, a teacher saw it all, pulled me aside by the arm, and threatened to call my mom to tell her about it. At the end of the day, she forgot about the ordeal, but I was stressing all afternoon over it.
